The wiki is being retired!

Documentation is now handled by the same processes we use for code: Add something to the Documentation/ directory in the coreboot repo, and it will be rendered to https://doc.coreboot.org/. Contributions welcome!

The official schedule

Conference location

This conference is being hosted by the coreboot project and will be held in San Francisco, CA, USA at the Google office at 345 Spear St. Google has been a significant contributor to the coreboot project, and several key members of the community work for Google. Google's chromebooks and chromeboxes use coreboot as a significant piece of their verified boot security model.

Target audience

This conference and developer meeting is geared towards manufacturers of hardware (processors, chipsets, mainboards and servers / laptops / tablets / desktops / appliances) as well as developers of firmware with an interest in coreboot and the possibilities it offers as well as (potential) coreboot users. Both professionals and hobbyists are invited.

When should you attend

We're hoping that many people will choose to attend for all four days of the conference, but we understand that many people can't take that much time away.

If your main interest is forging business relationships and/or strategic coordination and you want to skip the technical workshops, Monday and Tuesday will be the days for talks, presentations and discussions.

If you are more interested in learning about coreboot development, there will be classes, workshops, and informal discussions on Wednesday and Thursday.

If your main interest is doing development, there will be a separate developer room next to the presentation room all four days of the conference. We will have various development tools available as well as monitors, power, and wireless network access.

Getting to the convention

There are two airports with a reasonable distance of the San Francisco office: SFO and SJC

If you are traveling from outside of the US and have a passport from a country participating in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP), you may apply for an 'ESTA' Travel Authorization.

Accommodation

We have reserved a block of rooms with Hyatt. The Hyatt close to the Google campus proved to be too expensive and required guaranteed reservations that we couldn't provide, so the reserved block of rooms fell through. We are working with Fairfield Inn & Suites San Francisco Airport/Millbrae that should be able to provide rooms at roughly $200 per night during that time period. The Hotel is roughly 15 miles from the conference site, but provides access by rail (BART) with about 1 mile of walking.

The cheapest rooms are probably through one of the hostels. The Downtown hostel is about 1.4 miles (2.25 km) from the Google office. The City Center hostel is about 1.8 miles (2.9 km) away. The Fisherman's Wharf hostel is 2.9 miles (4.7 km) away.

Some of the conference attendees have already booked at the Downtown hostel.

Spare time activities

We have arranged dinner and a presentation at the Long Now Foundation on Tuesday evening. Because space is limited, only the first 40 people to sign up will be guaranteed seats.

Food and drinks

Breakfast and Lunch will be supplied at the Google cafeteria for all four days of the convention.

Tuesday Dinner will be at Long Now as mentioned above. The cost for this is included in the conference fees. Dinner on Wednesday will be at Palomino Urban Italian Restaurant & Bar at your own expense.

Additional snacks and drinks will be available in the conference rooms.

Goodies

We will have an assortment of coreboot items available. The list is not yet set, but we will definitely have the following items available.

- Stickers - T-Shirts - Backpacks - Glassware
