Dear vendors, developers, users and interested parties,
the coreboot project would like to invite you to the coreboot conference and developer meeting on Monday, June 13 to Thursday June 16, 2016
This conference and developer meeting is geared towards manufacturers of hardware (processors, chipsets, mainboards and servers / laptops / tablets / desktops / appliances) as well as developers of firmware with an interest in coreboot and the possibilities it offers as well as (potential) coreboot users. Both professionals and hobbyists are invited.
Who will host the conference
This conference will be hosted at Google, by the coreboot project and will be held in Google's San Francisco office. Google has been a significant contributor to the coreboot project, and several key members of the community work for Google. Google's chromebooks and chromeboxes use coreboot as a significant piece of their verified boot security model.
The date of the coreboot conference is Monday, June 13 to Thursday June 16, 2016.
When should you attend
We're hoping that many people will choose to attend for all four days of the conference, but we understand that many people can't take that much time away.
If your main interest is forging business relationships and/or strategic coordination and you want to skip the technical workshops, Monday and Tuesday will be the days for talks, presentations and discussions.
If you are more interested in learning about coreboot development, there will be classes, workshops, and informal discussions on Wednesday and Thursday.
If your main interest is doing development, there will be a separate developer room next to the presentation room all four days of the conference. We will have various development tools available as well as monitors, power, and wireless network access.
We will have an assortment of coreboot items available. The list is not yet set, but we will definitely have the following items available.
- Stickers - Coffee Cups - T-Shirts - Backpacks
Call for presentations
We are looking for interesting talks/presentations about coreboot related topics for the first and seconds day of the conference. Please note that those presentations are not intended to be advertisements or company portfolio presentations. Expected duration is between 15 and 90 minutes.
Submission: Please send the title, a brief summary, the expected duration and name/organization of the speaker to email@example.com until May 6. We will notify you of acceptance by May 13.
Call for discussion topics and development suggestions
We hope to stimulate discussion and foster new ideas as well as explore ways to improve code, development and deployment. The format for this will be a few minutes (5-10) of presenting your idea/topic followed by discussing it with the audience for approximately 5-20 minutes.
While there is no formal deadline for submission, we'd appreciate a submission to firstname.lastname@example.org before May 27 to be able to list the topic on the agenda to allow others to think about the topic in advance.
Call for developers
If you want to do development all day, every day, sign up to come and do it. We have power, networking, development tools and some spare hardware - please tell us in advance if you need something specific.
